Therapy for Anxiety
Life can feel overwhelming when we fear not meeting expectations, whether they are the expectations associated with being a leader, an employee, a mom, a friend, or a woman. The fear leads us to try to either hiding and avoiding the responsibilities we have or trying to control all outcomes by managing the situations or sometimes a combination of both. It can be exhausting and you may feel like if you let go, everything will fall apart or people may see you for the mess you feel like you are. With therapy, you can build your confidence and trust in yourself, allowing you to breath and appreciate your life.
In sessions, we will likely focus on mindfulness to increase your ability to be present in the moment without judgment. We will also help you learn how to build compassion for your struggles while maintaining a focus on your goals. We will use your goals to ensure that your use of your time and energy align with the life you want. As we put these pieces together, you will find you have greater energy, less fear, and more contentment.
Therapy for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Living with obsessions and compulsions can be exhausting. It can feel like the OCD is taking over your life, while it can also feel like the only way things can be okay is by completing the compulsions. However, the relief from performing the compulsions is often short lived, leading to continued distress. OCD often impacts many areas of life, including relationships, school / work, time, and energy. With therapy, you can find freedom from the obsessions and compulsions in order to engage more fully in your life.
In sessions, we will likely utilize Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) Therapy. This is an evidence based therapy that has been shown to be very effective in reducing anxiety and distress caused by the obsessions. It includes a process of identifying obsessions, compulsions, and avoidance behaviors then creating a fear hierarchy. Initially, ERP can cause some discomfort while outcomes show it can significantly reduce your symptoms and distress in a relatively short period of time.
